General Portuondo (Trinidad) #510 e/Hartman (San Félix) & General Banderas (San Bartolomé), Santiago de Cuba.

A highly recommended home stay to anyone who is looking for an authentic experience living with a lovely Cuban family in Santiago de Cuba City.

The house is located downtown on a quiet street and the beautiful colonial house offers great comfort and hospitality. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the central square, and the majority of the museums and places of interest. The entire house is clean and the rooms are recently renovated and all have air conditioning and private bathrooms. You will love the interior garden with flowers, a banana tree and lots of vines, and its fauna: parrot, turtle, lizards and snails.

The menus at Casa Colonial Nivia are authentic Cuban dishes, which one cannot find easily at restaurants. Having coffee at the garden table, is a real treat. The home-made food is fresh and delicious and every day Beatriz offers a variety of choices for dinner: vegetarian, seafood, chicken, or lobster.

Beatriz, the daughter of Nivia and Roberto, and her husband David run the home stay. They are warm hosts and very knowledgeable of the touristic and cultural attraction of Santiago the Cuba and also flora and fauna of all Cuba (they are both biologists).

It will be lovely to stay in a home stay instead of a hotel and to be part of a Cuban household for a while.
