Casavera is a B&B or "casa particular" owned by Caridad and Elio. It is centrally located in El Vedado neighborhood. El Vedado is known as Havana's showpiece neighborhood for its wide leafy boulevards, it was built in the late 19th Century.
Before retiring, Caridad worked as a professional translator specializing in Russian and Italian. She also speaks English fluently and some Finnish.
This B&B has two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds each and 2 shared bathrooms, only for guests. One of the bedrooms has an additional twin bed to accommodate a third person. Both rooms have air conditioning, fridge, and their own lock for security. The house is very safe, clean, and quiet and has been fitted to modern standards but retains its original charm. Guests may use the telephone, TV, video and enjoy the hot water.
Caridad and Elio are excellent cooks and will prepare lunch and dinner on demand for a reasonable price. A full breakfast with a selection of bread, butter, jams, eggs, fruit, coffee, tea and juice costs CUC$ 5 per person. Lunch and dinner can be cooked on demand for a very reasonable price.
Caridad and Elio are also known for their hospitality and enjoy talking to their guests about the beauty of Havana and other places in Cuba. They are very friendly, intellectually stimulating and accommodating.
The house is located about two blocks from the historic Colón Cemetery, considered a historic landmark. Calle 23, the main avenue of the neighborhood, is only one block away. The intersection of Calle 23 and Calle 12, one of the vibrating centers of El Vedado with its cafeterias, shops and cinema, is a 3-5 minute walk from the house. The Malecón, Havana's famous seaside promenade, is a few blocks away down the street, about 8 minute walk.
